Amaya is crawling!
My baby girl is crawling! The crazy thing is that she and Jay started crawling at the same exact time, almost down to the day. Around 10 months 10 days. So funny :) I'm so excited for my little one and she is pretty thrilled too! I kind of like that my kids start crawling a little late because by the time they start, I'm ready for it. Now on to more baby proofing and scrubbing dirty clothes, hands and knees. Congratulations on the milestone baby girl!

What we do when daddy's gone...
Mike has been traveling a lot so me and the kids have been playing. Jay and Amaya are the cutest little ones. Even though it's not easy to be a single mom, I sure love my kiddos and I am so grateful they are so good for me. Here are some recent pictures of them...
Amaya LOVES to eat!
Jay got this cool wood kit from Aunt Melissa and Uncle Reed for Christmas. We decided to take the shirt off before painting.
In Tucson we love to play outside. It's where we spend most of our day.
I love that my babies love each other. Jay is an amazing big brother. He is quite patient with our yittle My My.
We decided to buy a pass to the Tucson Children's Museum since we often find ourselves with plenty of time and a desire to get out of the house. Jay had a blast there.
So did Amaya, learning how to crawl. She's so close!
Jay has been cracking me up lately with some of the funny/cute things he says. Here are a few gems.
- We were in the doctor's office when Jay took a drink of juice and then started coughing. When I asked him if he was okay he said, "Yeah mommy, I just started coughing because my juice went down the other throat to my arm." I thought about if for a minute before realizing that he meant it went to his lungs. You know, arms, lungs... potata, potatah.
- I love having two kids. It's so fun seeing them interact with each other. One morning I woke up to hear Jay and Amaya "talking" back and forth. I went into Amaya's room and there was Jay peeking up over the side of her crib smiling at his baby sister. She had a huge grin on her face too. Totally content that brother was there to greet her.
- We were playing trains the other day and some of the trains were being "bad" so Jay decided they needed to go to jail for a while. I told him that maybe we should teach the mean trains to be nice. Jay thought that was a great idea so he proceeded to let Thomas teach the mean trains how to be good. My favorite part though was when Jay had Thomas tell the trains, "I learned how to be nice because my grandma taught me. Now I can teach you!"
- Jay loves the word toot, as evidenced by the name he gave Amaya, "Tootie." He pretty much uses it all the time to replace... well, any other word he wants. For example I'll say, "Jay what do you want for lunch?" and Jay will respond with, "What do you want for toot?" Then the other day he solidified his feelings for the word toot when he told me, "Mom, toot is my funniest word."
- Jay loves seeing flags. He has seen a lot in his lifetime in the different countries we've visited. He can now recognize when a flag is a United States flag though and he points them out constantly. The other day we mentioned you can also call it an "American" flag. He picked up on this and the other day when we were walking down the street he said, "Hey mom, look! There's a miracle flag!"
- As we were driving home one day Jay saw some cirrus clouds. He said to me, "Those clouds are funny looking. They look like white hair - that's because they're so wooshy."
- Walking out of church one Sunday Jay saw a cement electric box embedded in the ground and said, "Daddy, who died here?"

Playing in the snow
One day while we were in California Mike, Jay, Amaya and I went "sledding" and played in the snow. Sledding is in quotes because we only found some mounds of snow to sled on, but they were perfect for Jay. It was an awesome day. Jay had SO much fun - it was just what we hoped it would be for our little 4 year old. Amaya on the other hand... she didn't enjoy it so much. You can tell by her face in most of the pictures. Her favorite part about the whole experience was eating the snow. Surprise! Notice Jay's oversized coat in the pictures. When we got there I realized I had packed everything (including hot chocolate) except for his coat. Luckily mine included a shell and a liner, plus I had a sweatshirt and so did he, so he ended up using part of my coat. He also had the snowpants he could "grow into" on. I think he might be able to use them for another TWO seasons. They were pretty big. He sure looked cute though! So did My My in her starfish getup.
Here's a snowman we found...
And here's one we made ourselves at Carol and Jeff's house. Jay was a great little helper! He rolled the head all by himself.

More fun in California
After Christmas we were able to stay an extra week with the fam and have some FUN! The kids absolutely loved being with Papa and Nonna.
Good times with the Hamberlines...
We love being in Nevada City!
Our kids LOVE pickles!
Another pickle eating experience...
Unfortunately it rained a ton while we were there but we did manage to get outside when the sun came out.
Here we are the first night it snowed while we were there.
My My was digging the candy canes.
We headed out for a yummy Italian dinner for New Years Eve. Of course we followed it with a movie in my parents amazing movie room. We love watching movies at mom and dad's.
On New Years day Carol, Jeff, Kristin and Lizzie came over for dinner. My cousins are the coolest girls ever. I just wish Amy, Matt and Caleb could have been there! I love being connected to all of them on "hey tell" now :)
