Happy Thanksgiving!
For Thanksgiving we all went over to one of Mike's co-workers. Monica and Manny were so nice to invite us! The dinner was amazing. Monica was cooking all week to get it ready and it was delicious! It was so nice for us too because we didn't have to do the cooking.
Make a Wish Day
Every year in November Jay's school has a special day for the kids where they write down a wish for the upcoming year, tie it to a balloon and let it go. Jay had two wishes. He wished that all kids could be happy and that he could get a turtle. I guess they go hand in hand for him :) He was so excited that I was at his school and I loved being with him. It was pretty cool to see all the balloons let go at the same time. Jay was mostly just happy that his balloon didn't get stuck in a tree!

Monserrate and the Botero Museum
Mike was able to take a few days off while Nonna and Zina were here so we decided to head up to Monserrate. It's a mountain overlooking Bogota. You can take a cogwheel train up to the top where there is a beautiful church built in the 17th century. The views can be amazing on clear days but unfortunately it was overcast for us. It was still very beautiful and we definitely enjoyed going!
They had a llama at the bottom of the mountain so we took a few quick pictures :)
After visiting Monserrate we went to the Botero museum. Botero is the famous Colombian artist who paints all the fat people. I guess properly you would say he paints with "exaggerated and disproportionate volumetry." He also uses a lot of irony and humor in his art. He is actually still alive and painting and still very popular all over the world.
They had a few other famous paintings there as well. When Jay saw this one he said, "What in the world is that?" Haha :)

Museo del Oro Y La Candelaria
My mama and Zina came to visit over Thanksgiving and we had such a great time with them here. We miss them so much already! I am so grateful they were willing to make the trip down. One day while they were here we went to see the Gold Museum and the oldest part of Bogota called, "La Candelaria." The museum was amazing! There were so many artifacts from all over Colombia and Central and South America. They were gorgeous. Here are some of our favorites.
My mom bought some beautiful replicas that look just like the earrings!
Here we are touring La Candelaria.
After seeing the old town we went for a typical Colombian lunch. It was SOOO good!!! We loved it all.
Colombian empanadas.
Grilled fish with coconut rice.
La bandeja paisa! A very typical Colombian dish with beans, rice, chorizo, seasoned ground beef, pork rinds and a fried egg on top. Mmmmm....
Lemon caper chicken. It was delicious! We had such a great time having lunch together. I love my mama and my Zina!

Parents Day
Jay's school had an end of the year parents day where the kids showed off some of the things they have learned this year. They broke into groups and each group of kids "taught" the parents something. Jay's group taught me how to make a Superhero.
Mine was a flying rainbow pig that can shoot lasers out of it's eyes (Jay took my picture).
The point was to show how the kids have been learning descriptive words in English. Haha! Jay aced it. The kids also sang some adorable songs in Spanish. It was so cute.
Here are some pictures of Jay at his school. It is such a beautiful campus!
Here's Jay in front of the infamous tree house that he and a friend broke a window out of. When I asked him why he did it he said, "I just knew I shouldn't but my friend wanted to and then I just really wanted to do it!" Hahaha, we need a lesson on peer pressure already!
Jay's classroom is just inside that door to the left.
He's super good at the monkey bars now!
