Hanging out in Bogota

After going to Giradot we hung out in Bogota for a few days. MyMy and Jay wanted to show Grandma the little playground at our apartment.

We also showed her our favorite Parque Chico! Jill found this amazing tree I had never seen before. It literally had a cave inside it!

One day we took everyone (minus the MyMy) to San Andresitos. A place where you can buy almost anything for a fraction of the normal cost. Probably because most everything is a knockoff.

Jill's favorite part was the roasting pig. Yum yum!

That afternoon we took them to Andres Carne de Res for lunch, it's always an experience!

MyMy burnt her finger on one of the hot plates that came out :( She got a blister and everything. Their first aid guy came out and gave her some cream for it. They told us not to put ice on it but to stick it in a cold cup of water instead?

Another day Jill and I took the kids to Froggy Land while the guys went to the leather district.

They LOVE Froggy Land!

Playing at home with Grandma on her last day with us.

The morning of their last day we went back to Parque Chico where Jay, Grandma, Grandpa, Robbie and Daddy played freeze tag. Jay loved it!!! Amaya was nearby playing in a sprinkler getting 100% soaked :)

We absolutely loved having Jill, Lynn and Rob here and hope they can come back again as soon as possible!! We love you!

The Mountains

On the Connelly's last full day we decided to go up to the mountains for a hike. We had heard about a hike to a lake and thought we would try it out. We happened to stop at a little road side Arepa stand on our way to ask for directions and met a very nice couple there with their 18 month old son. The husband is from Bogota and his wife is from Australia. When they saw our kids and heard we were trying to go to the lake they immediately let us know it would be a very difficult, straight uphill 3 hour hike. They then let us know they were on their way to their farm and asked if we wanted to join them and hike around there instead. What an invitation! Of course we quickly said yes and after having some delicious arepas and fresh squeezed mandrine juice of our own we all headed to the farm.

Here we are hanging out at the Arepa stand... a little different than what you find in the city!

At the farm the kids were in heaven. They loved romping along and seeing all the animals. We even were able to see a new baby calf who had just been born that morning! It was pretty incredible.

MyMy loves to find and carry sticks wherever we go.

MyMy was a little nervous about the geese... I don't blame her. Save me Uncle Robbie!

The horse liked my tummy :) She even licked it! Maybe I had spilled soma arepa.

 What was so funny?

Here we are hiking around.

Jay's new favorite pose from this trip... the praying mantis!

Here is the friendliest farm dog we've ever met! He was SO sweet. Their 18 month old even kicked him right in the face and he didn't do anything!

Feeding the horse canela.

After hanging out at the farm our new friends invited us to lunch at a nearby restaurant. We followed them there and never would have found it or even known it had existed except for them. The food was excellent and the restaurant itself was surrounded by acres of beauty. There were even some farm animals there too.

Everyone had a wonderful day and we now have some new friends! Who knew asking for directions was so useful?
