Giradot

While Lynn, Jill and Rob were here we decided to take a little 2 night trip to the warm country. We drove about 3 1/2 hours on winding roads down the mountains to get to Giradot, where it is always a sunny 90 or 95 degrees! The drive down was beautiful... but a little hard on the stomachs. Especially Amaya and Jay's. Amaya was eating a piece of cheese when suddenly without warning she threw up. Seconds later Jay followed her lead. Poor babies! Poor Jill who was sitting with them!! I don't know how everyone else in the car didn't start up too. Funny thing was immediately after throwing up Amaya said, "I want more cheese." Hahaha!

Mike's friend Rey here was amazing and let us not only borrow his new house with a private pool for the 2 nights but he also drove down there with us! 3 1/2 hours there and back just to show us around and make sure we were comfortable. He was amazing! The house was perfect for us. We had such a wonderful time swimming, especially Jay who is a little fish now. He was in heaven!

 Dancing to the music!

They played keep away for hours!

We had some delicious meals there! We paid Rey's maid about $20 a day clean for us and her mom about $15 too cook. They were so sweet! The first day she made a yummy pasta and the second day she made bandeja paisa. It was SO good!!!

YUM!!!

At night we had some great food too. For dessert we tried a typical fruit slushie thing. Mike and Rob loved it. Jill and I had mixed feelings. They put pieces of guananaba in it and I HATE that fruit. It's slimy.

Amaya and Jay liked the ice cream better in the end.

Jay found a little caterpillar friend one day and played with him for hours :)

We also saw this little tiny lizard. He was so cute!

Jay and MyMy also had fun exploring.

It was a great trip and we can't wait to go back again!

The Connelly's Visit, Monserrate

Jill, Lynn and Rob came down to Bogota for wonderful week long visit. We love having visitors! Mike was able to take some time off so we were able to do a lot. Their first day here we went up to Monserrate (same place we took Zina and my mom to). It was another overcast day but it was still very beautiful! We didn't take Amaya last time so it was a new experience for her. She and Jay both loved riding in the Funicular car.

It was fun to get up and out of the city for a few hours. The air is so clear up there and there are so many pretty plants and flowers. It feels like a different world.

 Hanging over a well!

 Where'd they go??
Just kidding :)

A trip up the mountain

One beautiful day in Bogota we decided to take a trip up and ove the mountain to get out of the city and into nature. It was a wonderful day! We stopped at an outdoor restaurant that serves authentic BBQ which was delicious. Jay and daddy then played soccer in a grassy area at the restaurant while Amaya ran around (pretended to play soccer) and played on the play ground. The ball kept falling into a little pond and Jay loved getting it out every time.

After lunch we headed on to a lake up the road. The drive was beautiful. The lake was pretty too but there wasn't much around it. The little town we stopped at to hike down to the lake was very nice but the hike itself was basically a hot, dusty dirt road and down at the lake were just some venders and a few boats you could hire to take you on the lake. There weren't picnic tables, grassy areas or anything like that. It's just different in the States! There was a little bouncy castle there and the kids begged us to let them go on it. Of course we relented but unfortunately as soon as Amaya started bouncing she peed her pants! And I left her extra pair of pants back in the car... a 30 minute walk away. She had no choice but to hike back in wet pants. Oh well! Part of potty training I suppose. We still had a very nice day and it was wonderful to get out of the city for awhile!

Our growing baby

Yesterday I had a 3D ultra sound of the baby and she's doing great! Everything is on track and the doctor didn't see anything to say she would have any genetic abnormalities. It was amazing to see her little heart. It was perfect! It will be so wonderful to meet our newest family member in 16 more weeks!
