Jay's B-day

We had two birthdays for Jay. One happened before we left California with all the family and a few friends. One of my best childhood friends, Heidi, and her baby, Owen, were there along with her mom and fiance. It was so much fun! Owen was born one week before Jay. They had a great time playing together. They loved the balloons and the birthday cake was also a big hit. We set both boys up with a beautiful little chocolate birthday cake and let them go at it. Owen dug right in. He started chowing down, sticking his whole face into the birthday cake without bothering with hands. Jay was a little more cautious. As we laughed loudly at Owen, Jay got a little scared by all the commotion and started crying. When he finally figured out the cake was for him to do with as he pleased he started slapping it over and over. Once he got a taste of the icing he started chowing down too. In the end, Jay's cake was demolished and Owen's ended up being half-way salvageable since he only touched part of it. Needless to say, both boys ended up covered head to toe in cake. It was quite a site! The floor also received it's fair share of cake. After eating the boys (really their moms) opened up presents. Jay received some wonderful books and clothes. We both loved all of them! Jay slept surprisingly well after all that sugar. I guess the old idea that sugar makes you hyper is wrong.
Jay's second birthday party happened back in Spain. This time daddy got to be there too. We had several friends over and had a true Spanish party complete with jamon serrano and shrimp. We also celebrated our friend Christopher's birthday. He turned two a few days before Jay's birthday. We bought a cake from a renowned Spanish bakery (people are bussed in from all over to buy from it) with Nemo on it. Jay didn't get any cake this time but he didn't mind. He received several more fun presents including many new toys. He especially loves one that came with 6 little plastic balls. He has a great time chasing them around. Jay received even more presents from his family in Utah a few days later. All in all Jay had a wonderful birthday full of family, friends, fun, cake and lots of presents.
