Dieziocho en Vina del Mar

Chile celebrated their 200th year of freedom over the weekend. Sort of like our fourth of July they call it "El Dieciocho." Mike had to do a little work for the celebration on the coast in Vina del Mar so we followed him down. We had a blast! The weather was perfect and the kids loved the beach, especially Jay. We stayed in a beautiful apartment we found on vrbo.com right across from the ocean and a park with gorgeous views. On the night of the 18th we had a perfect view of the fireworks from our balcony.

Playing in the waves:

There was a little carnival going on in Vina as well so we headed over to taste the traditional Chilean food. We had Kabobs, empanadas and choripan (grilled chorizo placed in bread with a special salsa on top). My favorite though was the fresh pineapple and ice cream drink. Yum! Jay loved riding the rides and playing games.

What exactly is this supposed to be in the bouncy castle?

I'm "loving" this new fashion - floral leggins. Is is happening in the States too?? I hope not!

Feliz Diezyocho!

You have blogged alot! This is so fun catching up. My favorite photo is of Jay and Amaya laying on their tummies on the sand. Oh so adorable. The video of Jay in the waves was sooo cute. Seeing him "live" makes you all so real! Thanks for this connection. Only love.
