El bosque en los nubes

Over the weekend we took a beautiful hike to Chicaque National Forest a.k.a. the forest in the clouds. It was very beautiful and so refreshing to get out of the city and into nature.

The kids loved hiking... Jay more than Amaya probably because she was in a backpack the whole time. Jay was amazing. He and the other 5 year old girls on the hike were awesome, they hiked for about 7 hours and only complained on the final hour. Halfway through the hike we ate at this little restaurant in the middle of the forest. It was much needed since we were all starving and in need of serious nourishment. We actually descended and climbed over 1000 feet. It was definitely tough towards the end and we probably should have cut the hike short about 3 hours for the kid's sake but we had a wonderful time. We were all really sore the next day, that's for sure!

I'm with Jill... so anxious to go hiking in that lush forest! Those yittles are incredibly tough to withstand an all day hike and with a 1000 ft change in elevation as well! I am so impressed with Jay's hiking skills, I am sure he ran much of the way with all those cute little friends on his heels!
And Mike had quite the workout with wiggly, giggly little Amaya on his back:) You all do very hard things and then Dej, you go home and share all this with us after lugging the camera up and down that beautiful mountain. Thank you sweet family!! Love your adventures! Miss you!
