We decided to take an overnight trip to Villa de Leyva with Nonna and Zina. Mike had Friday off after Thanksgiving so it was the perfect time to go. Villa de Leyva is a beautiful Colombian colonial town about 2 1/2 hours from Bogota. It is lower in elevation so it's a little warmer, but not by much. Most of the streets in the city are paved with stones and the buildings are all painted white making the town quite beautiful! The first picture is of Mike and I in the Plaza Mayor. All Jay wanted to do was drive his cars over the cobblestones and Amaya just wanted to play in the fountain :)
We stayed in a charming little bed and breakfast in the town. It was really unique and the gardens were gorgeous. The owner painted special murals on the wall herself and she made us a delicious Colombian breakfast complete with fresh juice, chocolate, fruit, eggs, bread and homemade jam. Yum!

After breakfast we went to a little farmers market in town.

I finally have a moment to comment now that Christmas is over. These photos are fabulous. This last one with the purple flowers overhead and two precious yiddle ones walking is fit for a photo magazine. The gardens are sooo beautiful. What a fun place to visit. The ginormous nativity is amazing yet I LOVE the teeny tiny one you sent to me. ANd speaking of gifts...yum to the hot chocolate! We used the special pot too. Thanks so much Anna. xoxo
Loved, loved, loved my time in Bogata with all of you, and especially visiting Villa de Leyva..what a beautifully quaint little village. The farmers market was so amazing...couldn't believe all the special fruits and vegies, not to mention the chicken stewing in pots over the open flames! Great times and great food in Bogata too! Miss you all soooo much!
Chocolate for breakfast? I so need to come visit.
