We've officially been in Maui now for 2 weeks and we've been having a wonderful time in paradise. Last week we took a hike near the Iao Needle and it was absolutely beautiful. It is incredible to be somewhere so green and warm and sunny in the middle of winter! 
The Iao Needle is "a natural rock pinnacle presiding over the 'Iao stream and surrounded by the walls of the Pu'u Kukui Crater. Once used as a natural altar, the 2,250-foot stone pillar covered in green, is a basaltic core that has survived eons of swirling water.(1)" The Iao Needle state park has a botanical garden at the base of the hiking trail. Jay loved exploring the little paths and climbing up and down the rocks. 
It was interesting to see all the different vegetation. Jay really enjoyed the hike. He walked the whole time by himself without asking to be held. He was in heaven! I'm glad my little guy is such a good hiker. The area was amazing. It really seemed as if we were in the Garden of Eden.

My heart is there...and my body will be there in 19 days!!! I can't wait to see you. Hmmm...could we possible take a drive to this same place while we're there? It is incredible. What a glance into heaven.

You've quickly become a world traveler. I like Jay's Danmark shirt- we were just there at the begining of January. We sure do miss you guys. It was always nice for me to hang out with someone I felt comfortable and at home with while Caleb was gone. We need to live closer together. Tell Mike hi from Caleb and Me.
