Over the weekend we went on a 2 night camping trip with our friends the Seedalls. We went to the Chiricahua National Forest which is about 1 1/2 - 2 hours southeast of Tucson and it couldn't look more different. There were no cactus and tons of beautiful, tall pine trees. It was so nice to get away from the desert!
We found a perfect little camp ground surrounded by trees with a great fire pit and plenty of wood to burn. We only had one snag on the trip. As we were driving to find our camp ground we got a flat tire on the FJ.
It was both Jay and Amaya's first time camping. Jay had a ridiculously fun time. We went with some friends from our ward and they have a 3 year old boy named Bryson. He happens to be one of Jay's best friends here. The two boys played all day long in the forest.
We hardly saw them. They were hiking, throwing rocks, fighting monsters, playing hide and seek, jumping, running, collecting pine cones, and generally have the best time preschoolers can have. It was awesome! They even found a tiny caterpillar and played with it for about half an hour.
Amaya didn't love it quite as much. Not being able to crawl around very easily made it a little hard on her. But she and her friend Kayla had fun playing on the tarp together.
She also enjoyed playing with Jay in the tent on the blow up mattresses.
At night it got pretty cold. Jay slept like a champ but My My... not so much. We didn't bring the pack and play for her (big mistake) so she ended up sleeping in the sleeping bag with me most of the night. We were nice and warm and cuddly but it didn't make for a very restful sleep for me. Oh well! Overall we had a great time.
My friend Jamie and I made some pretty fabulous food for the trip too. We had tin foil dinners, biscuits and gravy, bacon wrapped hot dogs and of course s'mores. Yum! The trip was a blast and we are so glad we finally made it on our first family camping trip.

Tú estás loca Anna!!! yo nunca he ido de camping, la verdad...y no me imagino ir con mis 3 niños...pobre Amaya tenía las mejillas de la cara muy rojas,no? La primera vez que vaya de camping iré contigo,ok? pero los niños los dejamos entre tus padres y suegros...¿cuántos hijos tendremos entre las dos dentro de 3 años??? Tendremos que contratar una canguro para los peques y llevarnos a los grandes,no? jajaja vaya PEAZZZZO (como dicen en >Utrera con la Z) de rueda del coche....jajajaja Fue mucho trabajo para ti la acampada verdad? Yo te conozco y esa carita estaba cansada de no dormir...pobre amiga mía!!!! Somos almas gemelas (si no dormimos no somos personas,verdad?) Me encantan las fotos!!!
What fun...wish I could have come too!! You know mom, loves camping:) The kiddos look like they had a great time...even MyMy with her little buddie to inspire her. It's so exciting that Jay is such an outdoors boy..guess that's why when he decided to walk, he ran, and ran and ran, all over Europe! A boy after grandma's and nonna's heart:) Thanks mommy for making this trip so much fun for your little ones...I know how much work it is but the smiles on those precious faces make it all worth while in spite of the sleepless nights:) You are one special mom!
Love the glasses and green shirts twins! Also we have yet to go camping with Shad, but this makes me much more brave to try-although we will have to borrow a bigger tent from someone since Dan, Solo and I barely use to fit, and we aren't going to pay someone to watch our dog to go camping.
