El Piñón

Over Easter break we were invited to go down to the Giradot area with Jay's best friend from school. Chucho's parents were SO nice to invite us to their home to spend the week. We couldn't pass it up! Jay definitely knows how to pick his friends, this family is one of the richest in Colombia. Chucho's dad started as a middle class man from a family of 12 and when he was only 19 started what is now the biggest shipping company in Latin America, Servientrega. Yup, they are loaded. They even offered to fly us down with them on their private jet making the trip only 15 minutes rather than 3 hours but sadly my doctor said no. I'm just too pregnant! The trip was amazing. As soon as we got there we were treated like royalty. The only money we spent on the whole trip was to buy a few snow cones. They told us to put our wallets away for the week. We really tried to pay them back for all the things they did for us but they refused! We were definitely way out of our league :) Haha! Andrea and Jesús were so great though. So down to earth and welcoming. It was SO hot there so we spent most of the time in the pool or taking naps in our air conditioned room in the afternoon. Jay and Chucho had a GREAT time together. They played in the pool literally all day long with intermitent trips to get snow cones, have a few few snacks, chase the bunnies (they brought 5 from their other home outside of Bogota) and drive Chucho's power wheel cars around the pool. I couldn't believe Jesús and Andrea let them drive the cars around the pool but the boys actually did pretty well. The cars only half fell in a few times. Chucho's little brother played with the boys too but Amaya mostly hung out with us. She did played with them some of the time, especially in the pool or when they went to get snow cones, but she liked being with mom and dad a little more than those rowdy boys! We hardly had to do anything with the kids though since they had about 7 employees or more at their house, all brought down from Bogota. They had 2 cooks, a few maids, a nanny, security guards and a general house manager. They would bring us drinks whenever we wanted them, watch the kids, make us breakfast, lunch and dinner and clean up after us at all times. We really did feel like royalty! Oh, they also had a masseuse on hand at all times. We definitely took advantage of that :) The food was delicious and so were all the fresh juices and fruits. Fruit was everywhere in the house. They had these amazing apricots sitting in bowls that came from Jesús' family's home. Yup, I could get used to this life.

It was the trip of a lifetime and I hope we get to go back again someday!
